Michael Staisil is a successful business professional but also a community minded individual. Local organizations and charities are designed to meet specific challenges. The bulk of Michael Staisil’s volunteer work has been performed at homeless shelters or with organizations supporting terminally-ill children. “You don’t have to do a lot to show you care. Sometimes, just being there to talk helps people out. When life gets hard, people shouldn’t have to suffer alone,” says philanthropist Michael Staisil.

Michael Staisil has gone from volunteering and supporting groups individually to encouraging more support from others at a professional level. With close ties to those in Harvard Business School, Michael Staisil hoped to foster care for communities in a small grassroots approach. “I graduated from Harvard Business School with my MBA, and I know there are many business minded individuals hoping to build their own careers who also care about the health of their community,” says Michael Staisil.

Michael Staisil already possesses the skills of a time-tested business leader but now pushes his philanthropic leadership skills. He is leading a major effort through Harvard Business School to foster an environment more open to volunteer efforts. “My goal is to utilize the business skills and manpower available through staff, alumni, and students to build and support positive community building efforts,” says Michael Staisil.

Michael Staisil was impressed with how ready and willing many people were after Hurricane Sandy to help strangers. “People from multiple states united with one common goal; restore and rebuild their communities,” says Michael Staisil. Michael Staisil also took part in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts and helped with cleanup efforts and supply distribution to help fellow New Yorkers displaced by the hurricane.

Michael Staisil is unafraid to perform volunteer work himself. As a businessman, some may be surprised that he takes such a hands on approach to helping others. Michael Staisil believes volunteer work builds character. For businesses, he believes supporting or sponsoring local charities and organizations builds business success and reputation.
