Michael Ihemaguba Offers Advice To New Medical Students

Posted November 8, 2016 by michaelihemaguba

Michael Ihemaguba is a talented and experienced physician who has undergone extensive education, in addition to having worked as a clinical instructor.

Before he embarked on his career as a physician, Michael Ihemaguba completed an extensive education that included his studies for a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, earning his Medical Doctorate at Universidad Technologica De Santiago School Of Medicine and also completing his Master of Science in Management at Cardinal Stritch College. Furthermore, he has also spent time working in a clinical instructor position with the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, which means he understands the challenges that modern medical students face. The following advice should prove useful to all who are considering careers in medicine.

Firstly, you should expect to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information you are expected to absorb when you first start your studies. Medicine is a complex and deep field and it can be a little mindboggling to try to take it all in at once. Understand that this is natural and most of your fellow students will be in the same position. Over time it should all start to make sense and you will find that most of it comes naturally to you, assuming you have dedicated the appropriate amount of time to studying.

Accountability is also vitally important in the medical profession, so you must not avoid any mistakes that you make when studying. Doing so will often mean that you fail to learn from them, which can lead to serious issues if you repeat those mistakes upon starting your career. Celebrate in the successes you enjoy throughout your career, but also hold yourself accountable for the mistakes you may make early on so you can learn from them and become better.

Perhaps most importantly, you need to find some time for yourself every so often. Michael Ihemaguba indulged his passion for music when he was away from his studies and all students should find something that allows them to refocus their minds when needed. Staying immersed in your studies during every waking hour may seem like the best way to learn, but it will usually lead to fatigue and stress that may actually make learning what you need to know even harder.
