Gurgaon, 27th December 2019: The Facebook page of Amity Global School, Gurgaon is replete with pictures of young learners participating in a host of activities organised for them. They were involved in basketball camps, visited an NGO called Pragati and also learned to make clay diyas for the festival of Diwali.
One of the best IB PYP schools Gurgaon, Amity Global ensures that its students have myriad experiences with their classmates and learn something new each day at a school. Their learning is not just confined to lessons within the four walls of a classroom - it actively covers a number of co curricular activities and sports.
When these little scholars visited Pragati NGO, they came to know about the risks, challenges and opportunities globally faced by children of their age. They shared their own knowledge with the students at Pragati through a Nukkad Natak on bullying. The students also presented a creative rap to explain the difference between “good and bad touch”. And Grade 5 students talked about the merits of reduce, reuse and recycle philosophy while also telling their Pragati counterparts about how they can make usable bags from newspaper.
Another recent event organised by the institution – that ranks among the top International Schools in Gurgaon – was the basketball training for the learners of Grade 3, 4, and 5. Both boys and girls participated eagerly and received tips on dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defence.
Diwali also falls in the month of October this year and the PYP students shared whole-hearted enthusiasm for the festival. Just before their weekend vacation, they learned the art of making clay diyas in a pottery camp. As the scholars of the best IGCSE Board School in Gurgaon, these young citizens already understand the significance of eco-friendly Diwali and the use of earthen lamps made by the poorer sections in India.
In the words of Smita Jaiswal, mother of a Grade 3 student in Amity Global School, “I was happy to see that my son refused to burn crackers this Diwali and insisted on buying lots of indigenous diyas for decoration. He bought some chocolates out of his own pocket money, wrapped them neatly, and gifted them to our maid’s children. These are the kinds of things they teach at Amity Global School Gurgaon. I am so happy that he studies there.”
