18th June, 2015 –Harvard Macy Institute, a part of Harvard Medical School, has been at the forefront of bringing together healthcare professionals, educators, and leaders to design solutions that can have a significant impact on how medical students are educated and medicine practiced. The institute includes a number of distinguished Harvard faculty members that include Dr. Elizabeth Armstrong (HMS), and Susan Farrell, MD, to name a few. One of the most recent to be appointed as Faculty at Harvard Macy Institute is Dr. Rowan Molnar, who is currently Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania and Head of Discipline, Anaesthesia, University of Tasmania Clinical School.

Dr. Rowan Molnar will be sharing his expertise for the first time in Harvard Macy’s program on “Leading Innovations in Healthcare and Education” to be held June 13 to 20, 2015.The objective of the program is to allow educational leaders in healthcare to collaborate and develop plans that can help their institutions fulfil their educational and health care delivery goals. According to Dr. Molnar, this is a great opportunity for scholars to learn how disruptive technologies impact healthcare delivery and prepare their respective institutions for change. “The program will also allow them the chance to design operational and strategic plans and manage any resistance to change. With healthcare systems struggling to maintain a balance between costs and high quality patient care, these programs are the ideal way to train future healthcare providers to develop strategies to cope with a rapidly evolving health care delivery system”, says Dr. Molnar.
Harvard Macy Institute’s “Leading Innovations in Healthcare and Education” program allows participants to use a variety of case studies of education reform to help them understand strategies for change and to develop guiding principles. An integral part of the program will be group and panel discussions involving case studies and interactive presentations. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with members of similar healthcare institutions and proactively develop plans to cope with change in a constantly involving healthcare environment.

Dr. Molnar is honoured to have the privilege of sharing his expertise and be a part of fundamental reform across the continuum of health care education. According to the senior specialist anaesthetist, it is essential for professionals to be equipped with the right knowledge to manage change and lead from the front in the healthcare delivery system and educational environment.
