KNOXVILLE, Tenn., JUNE 14, 2016 — Dr. Daryl Green, a nationally-recognized author who is noted and quoted in major media outlets has announced that he is celebrating the incredible life of Pat Summit, the global icon who passed away Friday, July 28, 2016, at the age of 64. A Celebration of Life Service honoring Pat, which is expected to have Governor Bil Haslam and other high profile guests in attendance is scheduled to hold on July 14, 2016, starting 7 pm, at Thompson-Boling Arena to celebrate the evolution and historical contributions she has made across six decades.

Pat was the former head coach of University of Tennessee Lady Vols and she was renowned for the exemplary life of purpose she lived from her humble beginning. Her fantastic skills and vast expertise made her incredibly successful as she achieved 1,098 career wins, the most in NCAA basketball history.

Coach Pat amazing strategies and the ability to understand how to drive loyalty in players made her won eight NCCA Championships with her team never missing any NCAA tournament. In addition, she won two Olympic medals: a gold as head coach of the 1984 U.S. women's basketball team and a silver as a player on the 1976 team, alongside numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
