Please support our dad, Rodini Roldan, as he undergoes surgery & other costly medical interventions treating his Stage III Prostate Cancer.

Juneau, Alaska – November 2, 2014 – Rodini’s daughter trying to raise money for her father because he has recently been diagnosed with Stage III Prostate Cancer, and has surgery this month, as well as many more treatments & interventions needed down the line.

In their small hometown, they are not fortunate enough to have the specialists and skilled surgeons in advanced medical facilities that are available in larger cities to take care of his treatment locally. So, in addition to the costs of treatment, their family also has additional traveling, as well as any other unexpected medical/travel costs, which can be very hard on any family.

Rodini's ailment does not only affect him being away from work, but it also affects their mother's work too. Their mother will be the one who will accompany him out of town to fly to Seattle for his procedures, and be the one to remain steadfast by Rodini's side, nursing him back to a level of strength and health where he is able to fly back to home. As one would imagine, time spent away from work detracts from earnings that would normally bring in the income of two working parents, thus, making budgets tighter for the family as a whole. Naturally, this has an effect on the children who are dependent on this income, and while my parents do not want us to stress about finances, being their children, they, of course, cannot help it.

Rodini’s daughter starting a GiveForward campaign to lighten the financial burden that is put upon any individual or family affected by major illness that is also having to undergo treatment.

About Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer only affects men and occurs in a gland located below the bladder. Currently, no effective treatment is currently available for when after the cancer has reached advanced stages. That is why prostate cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer death in American males. It is very rare in men under 40. People may experience problems urinating, and chronic lower back pain. Ninety percent of cases spread from the prostate to the bones.

Prostate cancer is referred to as stage III if the cancer can be detected by digital rectal examination and has extended through the capsule that encloses the prostate gland and may involve nearby tissues.
