The whole area comes under the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve which is one of the most extensive spread territories in India sheltered forests.

The park has a diversity of biomes encompassing dry deciduous forests, moist deciduous forests along with shrub lands. The broad range of habitats supports a varied range of organisms.

The park is bordered by the Kabini River in the north as well as the Moyar River in the south. There are also two negligible streams flowing through the area and the complete area is irrigated by river Moyar plus these two rivulets.
