He also stated that "I am releasing these realistic replicas now for two reasons. Firstly, the launch coincides with the exciting 74th season of NASCAR professional stock car racing in the United States.

Secondly, three years ago I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa which is an incurable genetic disorder that is taking away my eyesight. In a few months I will be almost 100% blind. So, unfortunately, after 50 years of being an avid collector, I will no longer be able to relish my collections. Consequently, I am releasing these amazing NASCAR collectibles so that others can now own and appreciate them as much as I have enjoyed collecting them up until now.”
