After 2008, Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado changed his research from HIV and mortality to axillary vein imaging and catheterization. "The topic has been controversial because of safety concerns. But my research focused on multimodal vein imaging enhances the safety of axillary vein catheterization," says Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado.

Before the publication of his 2012 research article, Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado submitted his abstract for presentation to the ASA conference in Chicago, Illinois. After the successful delivery of his poster presentation, "I continued research on the topic. With the work of colleagues, "Real-time Multimodal Axillary Vein Imaging Enhances the Safety and Efficacy of Axillary Vein Catheterization in Neurosurgical Intensive Care Patients" was published in the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesia," says Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado.
