As a doctor, Mark Cereceda is used to a position of authority. In a medical field, he expects people to follow his instructions in order to keep them from harm or cause additional damage. However, Mark Cereceda is very alert to the authority police have over an entire community of people.

Mark Cereceda makes it a point to show his support for the men and women who keep him and others like him safe. "The police protect our businesses, our homes, and even our lives," says Mark Cereceda; "I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to show their support to the men and women of law enforcement."

He shows his support every year by donating to the service. "For a time, I sat on the City of West Miami's Code Enforcement Board," says Mark Cereceda. "I learned a lot from that position and it garnered even more of my respect for the individuals in law enforcement," he says.

Every year, Mark Cereceda donates and supports the Coral Gables Police Ski Team. When he learned that West Miami needed radio equipment, Mark Cereceda decided this was something he could solve himself. "I made a generous donation to the West Miami Police Department. From my donation, they were able to purchase the radio equipment they desperately needed," says Mark Cereceda.

His generousness didn't go unrecognized. For his assistance and support, Mark Cereceda was given appreciation awards from The City of West Miami, Coral Gables Ski Team, and Miami Dade Commissioner. Appreciation from the Miami Dade Commissioner was given to Mark Cereceda in recognition of his continued support of the annual Christmas toy drives run by the Miami Dade County Commissioner.

"I support my local police department because I believe on a personal level it is the right thing to do," says Mark Cereceda. He is grateful for the awards he was given as a result of his donations and support, but he would have continued his support without the recognition. "I just hope more people show their support to their own police departments," says Mark Cereceda.
