Marian Nelson-Addy recently traveled as a member of a humanitarian aid team to help victims of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on 25th April 2015. She has been working for the Christian-based Nonprofit in Bristol, U.K ever since she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the University College London in 2007.

Marian Nelson-Addy grew up in Bristol and attended Redland High School for Girls, a private school in Bristol, England. Her parents are active members of the local church and regularly help the poor and needy through various community-related programs sponsored by the church. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she started volunteering at the local community centers while she was in high school. By the time she graduated with her bachelor’s degree, she had already decided what she wanted to do in life. She started volunteering as a humanitarian aid worker which soon turned into a full-time position. After working for three years, she decided to continue her education and enrolled in the Master’s in Social Work program at the University of the West of England and graduated in 2012.

Following the devastating earthquake that struck on 25th April 2015, Marian Nelson-Addy along with several other members of the humanitarian organization in New Orleans left to help the victims in Nepal. With hundreds of thousands of people homeless and entire villages completely flattened, the team provided much-needed food supplies and medical aid to the people most affected by the earthquake. Being an experienced humanitarian aid worker, she was assigned the job of working with those in need of urgent assistance.

Marian Nelson-Addy has traveled to several other places around the world including the Philippines and Namibia in Southern Africa to provide relief to victims of natural disasters. Her first experience volunteering as a humanitarian aid worker was in 2005 when hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeast Louisiana. At that time, she was studying for her undergraduate degree at the University College London. She has built a successful career as a Christian humanitarian and is dedicated to what she does. She currently resides in New Orleans and is one of the most valuable members of the team.
