The concept of air traffic control is pretty simple on paper. However, to accomplish what is stated on paper requires a high degree of understanding and execution of procedures, principles, and constructs that underlie the ATC process. This translates into high complexity when seen in the context of the takeoff, supervision, monitoring, and landing of hundreds of thousands of aircraft in thousands of airports every single day.
