There are modeling agencies that specialize in children modeling, where they have experienced trainers to train your children in the studio, have modeling classes and etc. And there are also model agencies that welcomes models of all ages, from as young as 6 months old to as old as 70. Normally these agencies do have wide range of clients and have tons of commercial projects for all ages!

So where and how do I start? What should I do first in order to get my child to model? Of course as a parent you can't make decisions like this yourself (although there are some who just do it without discussing but we at Child Actor LA (https://childactorla.com/) would highly recommend to first go through your child and other family members first), so that brings us to the first point:

1) Discuss

Of course, gather your family and your kid(s)/infant(s) down in the living room and discuss whether if they would give it a go.

2) Send in pictures of your baby or child to legitimate modeling agencies

Take a couple of shots of your little love ones and send them into agencies via e-mail or you could just go straight to the modeling agency which I'd recommend better. Of course before sending all your pictures and emails, do a thorough research of the modeling agency to avoid scams.

*Note that they don't have to be taken by a professional, just ensure there's a headshot and a full body shot with the size of 4x6.

3) Sign contract

Once approved, you and your child will need to sign some papers. Make sure you read through the terms and conditions thoroughly and understand it. This is a crucial step that many neglected and regretted later that. Ask all the questions you need to make sure that you're clear on how things work.

4) Wait for casting calls

Now that your child is signed, there're few ways to get modeling jobs. But here are the common two, one way is to go look for your own modeling jobs but that's unless you're a freelance model. Another alternate way is to simply be patient and wait for your agent to contact you for jobs.

5) Congratulations on your first casting call!

Once you receive your casting call, your agent would give you all the details on the job and you must then bring your child along to the casting call at the venue and time given.

*Note that casting calls can be dreadfully long and you would want to bring some toys or snacks to entertain your children and yourself too.

Casting calls are where your child meets his clients, they would first ask for your child's book, which is his portfolio and ask your kid a couple of questions to know them better.
They may ask your child to act a little if it's for TVC (TV commercial). But if it's for fashion show, your child might need to walk for clients to see.

6) Wait for the result

This is every model's most anticipated moment, because it's either you're in or you're out. Follow up with your booker over the matter. Your booker should let you know the result as soon as possible.

Once you've receive the news, may it be success or failure, don't stop thriving for the best! If it's a success, congratulations! Next you would receive the official shoot dates and payment information from your booker. If it's a failure, don't take it to heart! There are still thousands of opportunities out there up for grabs!
