African business group and technology major, Mara Corporation has unveiled its new project the Mara Phones, a high-spec smartphone, made completely in Africa.

Rolled out on February 14 of 2019, the Mara Phones (Mara Z and Mara X) are first of its kind in the history of Africa. This is because these Android mobile phones are totally manufactured in Africa, in plants located across the continent.

The Mara Phones are a highly affordable and high-quality product meant primarily to serve the African populace and may also be exported to foreign countries. This target has been set in 2019 with the help of the African Development Bank (AFDB).

The Mara X was launched as part of Google’s Android One program, garnering the best software experience and also the latest innovations from Google. It also runs on the latest Operating System, Android 8.0 Oreo, which will get 2 years of OS upgrade and be optimized for the Google Assistant.
