May 14, 2025 – 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt
The Mapei Group, a global leader in chemical products for the construction industry, has officially opened a new state-of-the-art production facility in Egypt’s 10th of Ramadan City, located north-west of Cairo. This marks a significant step forward in Mapei's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and regional development across North Africa and the Middle East.
The new facility spans 30,000 square metres and will manufacture a wide range of Mapei products for the local market, including Mapei adhesive systems, Mapei grout, Mapei waterproofing solutions, and high-performance mortars. This is Mapei’s second industrial investment in the country following Vinavil’s polymer plant in Suez, established in 2002.
Speaking at the inauguration, Italian Ambassador Michele Quaroni stated:
"The opening of this new Mapei factory in Egypt strengthens the trade and economic relationship between Italy and Egypt. This investment reflects the strategic importance of Egypt in the Euro-Mediterranean region and supports the broader goals of the Mattei Plan for Africa, focused on development and technological cooperation."
Mapei Egypt was founded in 2017 in New Cairo as a commercial arm of the company. Over the years, Mapei has been involved in major infrastructure and urban projects including the Cairo Metro Line 4, Alamein Towers, the Government District, and the Central Business District (CBD) in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
“Egypt is a fast-growing market with enormous potential,” said Veronica Squinzi, CEO of Mapei Italy.
“Government-led investments in residential, transport and infrastructure sectors are creating strong demand for advanced building solutions. The addition of this facility will boost local manufacturing, support technology transfer, and reinforce our leadership in innovative construction materials such as Mapei Ultra Colour Plus, Mapei Eco Prim Grip, and Mapei Kerapoxy grout.”
The new site is strategically located near key transport corridors including the Cairo-Suez and Cairo-Ain Sokhna highways. This allows Mapei to optimise logistics and efficiently supply not only Egypt but also surrounding markets in North Africa, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa.
“This plant is more than just a production facility,” added Marco Squinzi, CEO of Mapei. “It includes a modern quality control lab and a dedicated training area for Mapei Academy, which offers technical education for professionals in the region. It is designed to be scalable, with future plans to introduce more production lines tailored to the evolving needs of the Egyptian and African construction sectors, including Mapei screed, Mapei Ultraplan, and Mapei glue adhesive solutions.”
Thanks to supportive industrial policies and a construction sector forecast to grow by over 10%, Mapei’s expansion aligns with Egypt’s development goals and positions the company as a cornerstone in regional innovation.
Today, Mapei Egypt employs 70 people, contributing to a combined workforce of 220 across Egypt. The Group currently generates a turnover of 60 million Euros in the country and continues to invest in enhancing local skills, employment, and the sustainable growth of the construction sector.
