Singrauli: Mahan Vikas Manch (MVM) condemns the efforts of anti-development foreign NGO Greenpeace and its hired agents to mislead and instigatesimple and illiterate villagers of Ameliya by refusing to take notice of compensation for Mahua rights. Instigating illiterate and uninformed villagers to return the government notice will result in severe financial loss to the villagers.
MVM has appealed to all villagers not to get carried away by the misinformation campaignand instead support MVM in its effort to get higher compensation in lieu of their Forest Rights. MVM has taken notice of the sophiticated legal language and interpretation that has gone into creating similar looking notices submitted by a small number (around 500) of innocent villagers out of the total 4000 villagers of Ameliya.
In virtually similar appeals filed by innocent villagers like Phoolmati Agariya, Keshari Yadav, Sidhu Saket and many more in the office of the Tehsildar Mada on July 26, 2014, a copy of which is available with MVM, the simple illiterate villagers have invoked sophisticated legal clauses that are beyond their comprehension. That they have all affixed their thumb impressions to the notice exposes foreign NGO Greenpeace’s nefarious game plan.
MVM President Prahlad Panika and Secretary Lalchand Shah said, “Following the announcement of district administration to hold a gramsabha, it is evident that foreign NGO Greenpeace has few supporters. Earlier, they attempted to delay the project by various type of drama like wrong interpretation of Forest Rights Act and promises to grant ‘Pattas’ over forest-land over the forest land under diversion., now they are instigating villagers not to accept compensation for miner forest prduce like mahua, etc.. This clearly shows the double standards and actual motives of this foreign NGO which can cause life-long financial harm to all villagers. I appeal to all my fellow villagers not to get carried away by this misinformation campaign and rather fight for getting higher compensation as provided for under conditions of forest-diversion. .
MVM has requested the administration to investigate this anomaly as the applications were not submitted by literate or educated villagers – the thumb impression instead of signature at the end of the sophisticatedly worded and legally crafted document testifies the 500 villagers’ illiterate status. Evidently, the illiteracy of the local villagers is being exploited for ulterior motives by foreign NGO Greenpeace.
According to ground reports, Greenpeace is creating a false fear against development among villagers under the covert guidance of western powers. It is using legal notices, etc. that are beyond the comprehension of innocent and illiterate villagers. MVM demands an immediate ban on this type of misinformation that is detrimental to the interest of the local communities.
