Lucky Envelope Brewing is celebrating a milestone Anniversary on Saturday, May 6th with new beer releases and red envelope giveaways.

This year’s anniversary is an important cultural milestone for co-founders Barry Chan and Raymond Kwan. “The number eight is considered the luckiest number in Chinese culture. The Chinese pronunciation of eight is “ba”, similar to the Chinese word “fa”, which is commonly linked to wealth and prosperity,” says Kwan.

Lucky Envelope will be tapping three beers for anniversary day including their Party Like Citra Birthday Hazy IPA and the culturally inspired Lychee Sour. New this year, is a Tropical Pilsner created and brewed with Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery (FBCB) – a collaboration that is more meaningful than we realize.

“I feel like Flying Bike and Lucky Envelope Brewing have walked together in our brewery journey over the last eight years. We opened up within months of each other and Kevin Forhan is an esteemed brewer who I look up to greatly as a mentor and friend. Kevin even wrote a letter of recommendation for my Glen Hay Falconer scholarship,” says co-founder and Brewmaster, Barry Chan. “FBCB was our first brewery collaboration back in 2015 and we wanted to celebrate our relationship again by brewing the Gr8 Friends Tropical Pilsner.”
In keeping with tradition, the brewery will be handing out red envelopes containing coupons for discounts and branded merch. Glassware printed with the double happiness symbol will be for sale in both 12- and 19-ounce options. Plus, they’ve invited Wood Shop BBQ food truck to join the fun from 3:30-8:30 PM.

About Lucky Envelope Brewing: Lucky Envelope takes its name from the Chinese tradition – tied closely with New Year celebrations – of elders bestowing often red‐and‐gold envelopes to loved ones as a gesture of luck and goodwill. Lucky Envelope’s brewing philosophy is centered on Culturally Inspired Beer whose recipes draw from modern and historic styles, techniques, and ingredients.

Located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Lucky Envelope Brewing has garnered accolades since its May 2015 opening, including several medals at the Washington Beer Awards and at the prestigious Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) competition.
