General Patrick O’Reilly is an expert in the field of missile defense and the application of technology for national security. Patrick O’Reilly has gained respect from his colleagues as has made great achievements throughout his career with the U.S Army. An effective leader, LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly has made many significant contributions to the Department of Defense. As the Director of the Missile Defense Agency, LTG O’Reilly revised many management processes, influenced deployment strategies, changed the approach to testing, and oversaw an extensive global deployment of missile defense assets.
LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly has been recognized for his contributions to the Defense Department with several prestigious awards throughout his career. General Patrick O’Reilly is a two-time recipient of the Defense Superior Service Award. Patrick O’Reilly has also been presented the Legion of Merit on two separate occasions. LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and is also the seven-time recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal. LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly has additionally received much other recognition throughout his career.
In 2012, Congressman Mo Brooks of Alabama gave a speech in the House of Representatives in tribute to the Army career served by General Patrick O’Reilly. “His service to this great nation spans nearly four decades that witness dramatic changes to the strategic national security landscape, organizational structure of the Unites States Army and military services,” said Congressman Mo Brooks. It was a great recognition of Patrick O’Reilly’s 34 years of service.
LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly has also been honored by Purdue University in being selected to give and present the prestigious William E. Boeing distinguished lecture for 2012 to Purdue Engineering students. The honor was a great reflection to the successful career of LTG Patrick O’Reilly and his accomplishments in the application of aerospace engineering. General Patrick O’Reilly has also spoken at many other universities across the United States including Harvard, Nebraska, Iowa State, Tennessee, Tuskegee, Alabama, Auburn, Howard and many universities overseas.
Patrick O’Reilly’s career and achievements continue to be shared as he now works as a consultant to leaders in industry and universities looking for perspective on government policies, contracting, and public/private collaboration.
