LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly is extremely pleased that he can apply his 34 years of military experience and education to address the difficult national and global challenges, which are the focus of the Atlantic Council. With LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly’s new position as a senior fellow at the Brent Scrowcroft Center for International Security, he will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate with very knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.

The Atlantic Council’s goal is to build leadership and engagement between different foreign and domestic entities, all focused on fostering collaborative approaches to solving the major issues of the 21st century. LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly will be joining the organization, founded in 1961, as an experienced veteran of international and domestic defense implementation, technology management and policy. LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly has held various leadership positions prior to his retirement from the US Army.

The Atlantic Council as a whole is dedicated to stimulating policy dialog between governments and providing forums for a wide variety of issues. LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly said, “The Atlantic Council is a very effective organization. Their sole goal is to build positive collaboration between different countries, and I am hoping to help them in any way I can.” LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly will be specifically helping them in their Brent Scrowcroft Center for International Security. His role there will be to provide experience in space, technology, missile defense and shaping the labor force to meet future needs.

“It is an exciting chance I get to be able to contribute to a highly successful organization,” said LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly. He will be joining the council in its 52nd year of existence. While LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly will be working with the programs dedicated to International Security, the Atlantic Council has many other areas of operation. Their span of influence stretches from environmental and energy issues to global business and economy, transatlantic relations, and youth programs for emerging leaders. “I am impressed the way the Atlantic Council focuses on so many different areas of collaboration, because no one issue is independent of another,” said LT Gen Patrick O’Reilly.
