Lithium Extraction Works decision will be based on the positive results of its multi-phase assessment program for the chemical transformation of spodumene concentrate to battery grade lithium carbonate and hydroxide at a site located near Lago de Coipasa, 20km north of mineral rich Salar de Ayuni.
This potential facility would be a fundamental part to Lithium Extraction Works growth strategy of meeting the growing demand for lithium hydroxide, a fundamental element which in battery markets.
Lithium Extraction Works’ Chief Geological Officer, Mr. Bruce McArthur commented on the preliminary assessment saying "Our strategy is to position the company to become a world leading producer of lithium hydroxide for batteries and to maximize value for our shareholders. We believe that a facility in Bolivia will be capable of achieving our targets in achieving our goals."
“After our assessment, the plan will be the refining metallurgical process to transform spodumene concentrate into lithium hydroxide and carbonate. Lithium Extraction Works are currently considering the optimal location for the facility within the Lago de Coipasa area and we will employ local engineers who will facilitate the implementation of this process. The construction of the lithium hydroxide processing facility is scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2021 depending on the final results,” added Bruce McArthur, Chief Geological Officer of Lithium Extraction Works.
