The independent, self-producing and all-round creative artist Linda U releases her first single ’Falling Down (To The Ground)’ this summer - a very honest song about a difficult time in her life.

Music has always been a sanctuary for the emerging artist Linda U and the thing she has turned to for comfort. She claims that it’s the only place where she can be completely honest and where she doesn’t feel the need to hide behind anything. With her deeply personal and honest lyrics and raw, organic sound, she has managed to created her own personal style and sound. She is heavily influenced by old music - especially from the 60’s as well as soul and motown, which you can clearly hear in her music. There is a lot of vintage to her sound and she wants to bring back the rawness and authenticity from the old and mix it with new elements - and that together gives her a fresh and unique sound that makes her stand out from the crowd. ”The reason I’m so inspired by old music is that I often feel a much bigger emotional connection to that, than I do with modern music. It was much more raw and more ”in the moment” back then. Nowadays it sometimes feels like it’s more about making hits than creating music that says something and moves the listener. I often miss authenticity and emotion in today’s music, so I want to be that person who brings that back.”

The Swedish singer-songwriter has struggled with mental illness (such as panic disorders, eating disorders and depressions) since the age of 13 and music has been the one thing that has helped her deal with the hardest times. It was a life-changing moment when she began writing music without judgement and only because she needed it for her own healing.
”I started writing for myself and I will always continue to write for myself, and if others can relate to what I’m saying and feel less alone, it would just be the biggest bonus and reward ever”

After a year of studying music in London and lots of writing over the last years, she now feels that she has found her musical identity and is ready to share her story and art with the world. ”I’ve needed some time to figure out who I am. When I started writing many years ago, I wrote what I thought other people would like, and I ended up not liking any of it, because I didn’t believe in it myself. It was when I started writing songs that I would want to hear and writing from my own experiences that everything just fell into place. Because if I like it and if I write about things that belong to my life story - no one can take that away from me or even argue with that. That insight was extremely freeing and made all the difference in the world” she claims.

She manages to convey a huge amount of emotion through her unique, soulful voice and she’s definitely the breath of fresh air the music industry needs today. The multi-talented Swedish gem has chosen to write and produce everything herself to make sure it’s as close to her as you can get. After meeting with labels that wanted to shape her in a different way, she decided that it was better to do it all herself - in her own way. ”I strive to be different, so I don’t really get why some labels want everyone to sound pretty much the same. Probably to be safe and to make sure they make money out of it. But that’s the last thing that drives me. We all make music for different reasons and I support all of it, but in my case - I just want to express myself and share it with the world. That’s what’s important to me.”
