Lewisville, TX, – No two cancer cases are exactly alike, that’s why specialized care is critical in cancer treatment. Top cancer treatment centers not only invest in the latest diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, but also in providing a warm and welcoming place that make both patients and their families feel supported.

“When you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, you want to work with a cancer center that’s focused on unique, comprehensive care,” says the Medical Oncologist at Lewisville Flower Mound Oncology Group. “That’s why we leverage our expertise, the latest equipment, and incredible patient services to deliver individualized care.”

Here are the three main cancer treatment options offered today:

 Surgery – About 60% of cancer patients will go through some type of surgery for treatment. In some instances, surgery is the only treatment needed. However, it may be combined with radiation or chemotherapy as part of an overall treatment plan. Examples of cancer surgery include curative, reconstructive, preventive, staging, supportive, palliative and minimally invasive surgery.

 Chemotherapy – Involves the use of incredibly powerful drugs to eliminate cancer cells, along with controlling their growth and relieving pain symptoms. The procedure might involve one medication or a blend of two or more drugs, based on the cancer type, and its progression rate. Chemotherapy can be administered in several ways; through oral chemotherapy, injections, isolated limb perfusion or hepatic arterial infusion.

 Radiotherapy – This technique utilizes focused, high-energy photo-beams to kill cancer cells. Over half of patients with cancer will undergo some type of radiation therapy. Radiotherapy can be used as a standalone treatment or along other therapies to shrink tumors before chemotherapy or surgery or to kill any cancer cells that remain after other treatments.

“It’s our individualized approach that makes us a highly sought after cancer treatment center in Texas,” adds the Senior Medical Oncologist at Lewisville Flower Mound Oncology Group. “All our professionals are passion-driven, and always give our patients the respect they deserve.”
