Cleveland Launches Major Clean-Up Drive to Combat Illegal Dumping Using Dumpster Rentals
Cleveland, OH – June 19, 2025 — The City of Cleveland is taking decisive action against the growing crisis of illegal dumping by launching a citywide clean-up campaign, with dumpster rentals playing a critical role in the operation.
In recent months, neighborhoods such as Glenville, Slavic Village, and Kinsman have seen a dramatic rise in reports of illegal waste disposal. Discarded mattresses, furniture, construction debris, and electronics have cluttered sidewalks and vacant lots, leading to health concerns and public frustration.
“This is more than just a cleanliness issue. Illegal dumping impacts public health, property values, and community morale,” said Rachel Mendez, spokesperson for the Cleveland Department of Public Works.
To address the problem, the city has rolled out the “Clean Cleveland Now” campaign. As part of the initiative, Cleveland has partnered with local dumpster rental companies to place large roll-off dumpsters in hotspot areas. These dumpsters are available for residents during designated clean-up days to dispose of bulky or excess waste legally and safely.
Councilman Donovan Hill of Ward 5 praised the effort: “We’re not just cleaning up trash—we’re restoring pride in our neighborhoods. Dumpster rentals give residents a practical way to be part of the solution.”
Local dumpster rental providers have stepped up in support, offering reduced rates for community projects and extended rental options for larger waste volumes. The partnership has already helped remove over 120 tons of waste from the streets within the first three weeks of operation.
“Accessibility to dumpster rentals has been a game changer,” said Mike Granger, operations manager at a Cleveland-based rental company. “We’re proud to support the city’s mission to make neighborhoods cleaner and safer.”
The campaign also includes public awareness drives, volunteer events, and support from local community groups who are helping collect and sort trash into designated dumpsters.
With the summer season leading to more home renovations and property cleanouts, Cleveland officials are urging residents to take advantage of these dumpster rental services and help keep the city clean.
Residents can find a schedule of dumpster drop-off days and rental service providers through the city’s official website or by contacting local sanitation offices.
