Irving, TX, Sep 27, 2019 - Breast cancer is one of the feared cancers among women. Most of us would know someone who has, who had or who is undergoing medical treatment. With the spread in media coverage of the condition, women are now becoming increasingly aware of the situation.
“National breast screening programs, dedicated breast clinics, advances in modern treatment methods together with ongoing research, all play their part in the early detection and successful treatment,” says Dr. Kiran.
Here are some of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer:
• Lump in the breast: an appearance of the lump or thickening of the part of the breast that was not there before may be signs of breast cancer, and medical assistance may be essential.
• Tethering of the skin: this symptom is the most accurate one. This appears to be a lump on the skin that doesn’t move quickly. If a specific notice that the skin gets caught or tethered over or near the lump as one climbs the hand, then this is one of the symptoms of breast cancer.
• Alteration of the shape of the breast: this is relatively non-specific as non-cancerous lumps can also deform the shape of the breast. But if the combination of dimpling, tethering and nipple retraction with the alteration of the shape of the breast, then this may indicate the presence of breast cancer.
• Retraction of the nipple: Nipple retraction, one of the more likely symptoms of breast cancer, is where the nipple and surrounding skin is pulled backward by the tumor. This is NOT slit-like in appearance.
• Rash on the nipple: this is a condition happens when the ulcerating and destructive or erosive condition of the nipple. It can be caused by the presence of underlying cancer in the breast, and a biopsy of the ulcerated area confirms the diagnosis.
“Breast cancer treatment is offered by a team of highly experienced specialist who has dedicated their careers to offer breast cancer treatment. These oncologists are part of a larger team which includes other physicians and health care professionals who possess a broad experience in cancer treatment,” says Dr. Kiran.
