Almost all computer users clearly know the importance of backing up data, but many don’t know how to protect data in an effective manner. This article lists several tips on file backup and protection.

Hard drives placed in computers are always busy at saving and accessing data while we are working. Then they are more likely to get damaged than other components. There are many causes that hard drive stops work or goes wrong. Once that happens you will have to take risk of losing all important data such as photos, documents, contacts, video clips, etc. To prevent such disaster, you need to learn ways of protect data and hard drive; for example, make a backup of system and personal data.
File backup is the procedure of make backup copy of important data or information so that you can retrieve data from copies when files loss occurs. Backup can be an image file or just copied data, which is frequently advised by many guides and experts. It is convenient to restore corrupted or deleted data. Let’s see several points on how to backup data.
Carry out an easy backup method
Sometimes backup is a time-consuming task and you need to choose the effective way according to your real condition. One thing you should observe is that backup should be performed regularly. There are different backup plans such as full backup and incremental backup. You need to make at least one full backup of all important data and keep regular incremental backup. Moreover, backup copy should be stored on other partition or drive.
Also, system backup is equally important as it’ll save you from reinstalling system when Windows crashes or hard drive fails. It is suggested to purchase an extra hard drive to store backup data. When to make system image? The best time is right after system installation and necessary programs are well installed.
Create partitions for your hard drive
Windows and many other programs stores files generated by themselves or downloaded from Internet to the My Document folder by default. There are several folders in My Documents, such as picture, video, etc. This folder is placed in system partition which is easy to get lost once system fails. Thus important data shouldn’t be saved with operating system. After backing up operating system, you’ll be at ease when system corrupts, as you can restore it easily without worrying about losing important data. Hence, it’s safer to leave system in one partition and personal data in other partitions.
Consider professional backup tools
Paste and Copy works in many cases to backup data, but operating system can’t be backed up in this way. Windows provides backup feature such as File History in Windows 8 and 10, but it can’t work as expect. A third-party system restore tool will be a good choice and some software is able to clone partition, image partition, copy disk, etc.
