Having a conscious approach towards giving back to the society is essential for well-established and successful organizations, not only to support the at-risk communities but also to set a positive example for others to follow suit.

UnitedHealth Group has been supporting Lakshyamsince over a year now. They recently carried out two programs at both the communities undertaken by Lakshyam in Delhi and Ghaziabad. UnitedHealth Group’s Friendship Program is a delightful initiative where the employees visit the beneficiaries to interact with them and take part in interactive activities.

Employee from UHG’s Noida office visited Lakshyam’s Ghaziabad Center that has recently been set up.The employees observed the community of ragpickers who live there and the area that has now been informally adopted by Lakshyam. They also interacted with the children and carried out various activities to interact with them like Musical Chair, Balloon Game, Antaksharietc. These activities keep the Basti Dwellers’ spirits up and enthusiastic.

The team from UHG's Gurgaon office also carried out the Friendship Program with the women at Lakshyam’s Vasant Kunj Center. Not long ago, the UHG employees organized a Block Printing workshop for the women. They brought along the essentials for the activity like blocks, cloth, paints etc. It was a very interactive workshop and the women of JJ Bandhu Camp in Vasant Kunj, who contribute to Lakshyam’s handcrafted product line, learnt a great deal and enjoyed spending quality time with some very warm-hearted people. These activities a way to equip women with the skills for self-employment.
