Today’s topic is Ladakh’s first winter conclave to promote sustainable tourism. As time flies, sustainable tourism is becoming even more common. Sustainable tourism is all about traveling to a specific place and respects its culture, environment, and people as well. To promote sustainable tourism, Ladakh had been hosted the first-ever Winter Conclave 2020 from February 21 to 23. The winter conclave was basically a three days program where innovators and leaders from different industries took part. The main objective of their coming together was to develop a sound road map for environment-friendly tourism in Ladakh.
The Winter Conclave was organized in Leh. The commissioner/Secretary Tourism of Ladakh, Rigzin Samphel, officially announced and launched the webpage at his office. The event flaunted the potential for Winter Tourism in Ladakh that includes winter sports, cultural, and culinary experiences being curate. The event not only drew attention to winter tourism but various other things were also included in it. Apart from it, the major highlights involved Heritage Walk in Old Town, Leh; witness Leh Dosmoche; Polo Match; Ice Hockey Match; Talk Sessions on Heritage and Culture; Adventure and Winter Sports, and Environment and Wildlife.
In the Winter Conclave, many leading personalities participated. The participants include Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra, Mika Pandey, Sumitra Senapaty, Vishwajeet Jadeja, and Brig. Ashok Abbey. There was also travel magazine Condenast Traveller and Outlook Traveller (Responsible Tourism) presented as well. The conclave also featured presentations by stakeholders that involve tourism companies, non-governmental organizations that work in Ladakh to promote its art and culture, and industry leaders in media. Apart from panel discussions, there were also discussions on Adventures & Winter Sports and Environment & Wildlife.
The first-ever Winter Conclave 2020 was organized in Leh and concluded in a grand style. RK Mathur, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor, appealed to the travel industry to economically strengthen the border villages to show the development to the neighbors. He appealed to the stakeholders of the tourism industry to share the revenue throughout Ladakh and throughout the year. He said that there are approximately 40 tourism themes possible in Ladakh and assured the industry to the extent all possible help in Ladakh.
The main aim of the winter conclave was to attract tourists in the winter season with a focus on the distribution of tourism income to rural Ladakh. The conclave was attended by tourism experts, branding managers, wildlife, adventure sports operators, and movie personalities.
