The New Zealand team after defeating Indian team in the first Semi-Final of the World Cup 2019 became the 1st team to qualify for the Finals of the Cricket World Cup 2019. This is their 2nd straight World Cup Final as they were runner ups in the World Cup 2015 where Australia defeated them in the Finals.

The 1st Semi-Final which witnessed New Zealand as the winner was completed on the reserve day for the Semi-Final as rain-interrupted the play on day 1of the knockout game. Indian team stopped the Kiwis on 239/8 in 50 overs but the Indian team managed to score 221 in 49.3 only, thus New Zealand won the match by 18 runs and will play against the winner of the 2nd Semi-Final on 14th July at the Lord's.

Indian team who was excellent throughout the tournament lost the knockout game as their opening stand and middle order collapsed in front of the New Zealand bowlers. This is not the first time we saw this, in 2017, Champions Trophy Final India lost to Pakistan just like this.

New Zeland team who was also leading in the start of the tournament was fallen down at the end of the league stage but thanks to their NRR they qualified for the semis. And by defeating Indian in the 1st Semi-Final they proved that they are not the underdogs.

Now all eyes are on the 2nd knockout match as The Ashes rivals will go head to head before the Ashes, and the winner will play against New Zealand in the Finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
