Filing dates and other important information about filing taxes in 2016 have been included in a new article published on the Internettaxconnection.com website.

Tax planning specialist Frank Ellis has published an article on Internettaxconnection.com regarding information about filing taxes in 2016. The article also includes important tax filing dates. While the deadline is April 15, one can file taxes any time after January 1 though the IRS doesn’t start processing until later in the month and when e-File goes live.

The date e-File is available is January 1. Employers must submit W-2s to their empoyees by January 31, while the deadline for federal income tax returns, or to file an extension, is provided. Extended 2015 tax returns for federal and state taxpayers must be in by October 15. An amended 2015 tax return does not have to be sent to the IRS until April 15, 2019.

Also, the author goes into when people can expect a tax refund. A link to the IRS e-File Refund Cycle Chart is provided. Electronically filed tax returns, with direct deposit selected to receive payments, enables taxpayers to get a refund in about two weeks, according to Ellis. Paper checks can take a week longer to arrive. It can take about 30 days for the IRS to answer any questions about when refunds may come in.

The author also debunks the myth that filing earlier will yield a faster refund. The average time is the same, he says, and recommends filling between mid-February and late-March. Tax forms and documentation should all be in order by then.

Ellis also covers the benefits of filing taxes online. One can know all the deductions they qualify for with H&R Block, and get the biggest refund possible. Also mentioned is the online filing service and ability to import W2 information , along with the free tax refund estimator that is available on the Web.
