In today’s world, the value of a degree is reducing alarmingly. The amount of competition you will have to face in any industry is extremely high, and there will always be people who miss out on opportunities simply because there were other more deserving candidates. This does not mean you opt-out of the race and gives up on pursuing higher education. This should galvanize you into working even harder and focusing on developing your CV.

Whereas before Engineering and Management were professions where there was seemingly no shortage of jobs, today it is different. No longer do you have the absolute certainty of getting a job placement after graduation. Therefore more and more students are pursuing MBA Courses in Bangalore or elsewhere. Here is a list of tips for you to follow in case you do not get a campus placement.

Introspection

It is vital to understand where you stand, and to look into yourself, analyze your mistakes and shortcomings. Identify the reasons why you could not get a placement. This process will prevent you from making such mistakes in the future.

Be passionate about your work

Maybe the reason why you did not get a placement is that you’re simply not cut out for your chosen line of work. Maybe you are doing something against your will, due to pressure from others or any other reason. Find something you love to do, and try and make a career out of it. It is impossible to succeed if you despise your job. A common and popular quote says, “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.”

Build your professional network

Work on improving your LinkedIn profile. Reach out to ex-students and industry professionals whom you might know. Build your resume and apply to jobs on websites such as Indeed and Naukri. Work on your interview strategy.

Higher education

A Master’s degree is critical if you want to excel in your field. Suppose you graduated with a BTech degree. Consider a Master’s degree in your own field to develop your skills further. Even better, try and go for an MBA as these days, companies prefer to hire individuals with knowledge about both technical and managerial aspects. There are a myriad of MBA courses in Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, etc., available for Btech graduates.

In case you do not want to do an MBA or Master’s degree, there are PGDM courses, Diploma courses, 6-month certification programs for you to look into. These courses will look good on your resume and will make you a more well-rounded professional. For example, many BA/BBA graduates take a short-term course on programming so that they can enter the IT job sector. Having a distinct set of skills will make you an attractive prospect for companies looking to hire competent professionals.

Conclusion

In conclusion, failing to get a campus placement is not the end of the world. There are plenty more options for you to choose from. You can even form your own startup if you have the passion, vision, and creativity.
