What is VRLA Battery

VRLA stands for Valve Regulated Lead Acid and is also popular as a sealed lead acid or SLA battery. They are formed by using a limited amount of electrolyte which is absorbed in a plate separator and formed into a gel. There is a proportioning of the negative and positive plates so that oxygen is recombined within the cell, with a relief valve that keeps the battery contents independent of the position of the cells.


Application of VRLA Batteries

There are some critical applications where these non-gassing and maintenance-free battery properties are particularly important like remote unmanned installations, enclosed areas with immediacy to sensitive equipment, personnel and food, or where maintenance costs are costly. VRLA batteries are most commonly used in the telecom, solar and power industries as standby, backup or reserve power.
