Konstantin Bas, CEO of a Construction Management company, speaks about his experiences

Konstantin Bas is the CEO of a Construction Management company based in London, England. He has been in the construction industry since he entered the work force and believes that it will only grow in the coming years. His interest in building and development was inherited from his father, who also worked in Construction Management. He hopes his two sons will follow in these footsteps and excel even further in the same field. The profession can be rigorous and demanding at times, but he turns to his family and his hobbies when he needs a break from the high pressure environment created by his work.

He began in the construction industry working for his father’s company. He soon outgrew low-level positions and made the decision to attend university and gain the qualifications required to attain higher ranking jobs. Beginning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1990, he graduated with a 4.0 GPA. After a short working break, he decided to return and studied towards an Associate’s Degree in Construction Management, which taught him many of the skills he still uses today. With another GPA of 4.0, and a versatile skill set he was ready to enter the work force again. He quickly ascended the ranks, and achieved his goal of becoming CEO of a company in 2007.

Maintaining a place in the competitive work environment of construction is a challenge for many, and he admits that as a young professional it was difficult. However, the resilience he developed in these early years has served him well and he has now been in the industry for over a decade. The experiences he had while working and studying, whether positive or negative, have influenced his leadership style for the better as he draws from them. This has led to a longevity and endurance which has allowed his company to grow under his leadership.

Konstantin Basbelieves that to be an effective leader in Construction Management, resilience and experience are two vital qualities. He enjoys his job, but learning to cope with the stressful environment he works in was not always easy.
