Im Alltag fallen die Laufzeiten erwartungsgemäß deutlich kürzer aus.Im Vergleich zur Vorgängergeneration hat Dell die Akkukapazität verringert, von 60 auf nun 52 Wattstunden. Dennoch ist das Gerät ein Langläufer. Bei mittlerer Bildschirmhelligkeit aber deaktivierten Funkmodulen spielte ein Testvideo sage und schreibe über 15 Stunden lang. Anschließend verlangte das XPS 13 nach dem erfreulich kompakten USB-C-Netzteil.

Im normalen WLAN-Betrieb, bei einer Mischung aus Surfen, Schreiben, Tabellenkalkulation und ein wenig Grafikbearbeitung kommen wir auf Akkulaufzeiten von rund 10,5 Stunden - ebenfalls ein guter Wert.Vier unauffällig integrierte Mikrofone sorgen nicht nur für eine ziemlich gute Sprachqualität bei einem testweise durchgeführten Skype-Gespräch. Sie reagieren auch ziemlich sensibel. Selbst aus einer Entfernung von über vier Metern konnten wir den "Hey Cortana-Befehl" erfolgreich absetzen.Ziemlich kräftig tönen die sinnvoll an der Seite jeweils links und rechts befindlichen Stereo-Lautsprecher. Nicht immer müsst ihr gute Kopfhörer anschließen. Bauartbedingt fehlt es den Mini-Lautsprechern aber an Bass. Zudem sind sie nicht ganz pegelfest bei hohen Lautstärken.
