Alan Powell, founder of the Checkered Flag Run Foundation(http://checkeredflagrunfoundation.org/), is giving supporters of both charitable giving and football a reason to cheer with his Super Bowl Weekend Experience. The Experience features a slate of signature events running from Saturday, January 24th through Saturday, January 31st that both highlight and benefit a variety of educational and community charities.

Beginning with “Soul Search 2015” on the 24th, continuing with “The World’s Greatest Slam Dunk Challenge” on Thursday the 29th and culminating with “The White House Initiative ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ Brother Up Forum: Connecting Solutions to Action” on the 31st, the weekend will pair Super Bowl attendees with some of Arizona’s most effective and beneficial charities.

A portion of the proceeds from the events and their associated after-parties will go to Alan Powell’s Checked Flag Run Foundation. ABOUT THE EVENTS
“Soul Search 2015,” held Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center begins the week, giving unsigned vocalists the chance to sing the National Anthem and perform as the opening half-time act at the Gridiron Celebrity Hoops XVII event. Celebrity judges include Grammy Award-winner Daniel Winans, recording artist CeCe Peniston, and American Idol Top 5 finalist Jacob Lusk.

“The World’s Greatest Slam Dunk Challenge” on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Phoenix College Basketball Gym, merges entertainment with athletic prowess as contestants from around the world battle to win the title of “World’s Greatest Dunker.” The Challenge is a great evening for friends, fun, and “I can’t believe that just happened!” moments!

“The White House Initiative ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ Brother Up Forum: Connection Solutions to Action” on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will conclude this exemplary week of events with a panel of professionals, government leaders and celebrities who are committed to President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper challenge. My Brother’s Keeper is a White House initiative to provide opportunities for boys and young men of color to reach their full potential through community strategies, and this panel will provide information and dialogue on ways to support the cause. Panelists include actor/model Boris Kodjoe; CEO & Founder Daymond John of FUBU; Dez Bryant, Pro Bowl Wide Receiver for the Dallas Cowboys; the Honorable Ruben Gallego, United States Congressman from Arizona; and the Honorable Greg Shanton, Mayor of the City of Phoenix, Arizona.
