"Be Brave, Tah-Hy!" by Jack R. Williams awarded by The Idaho Library Association

The Idaho Library Association has awarded Honorable Mention recognition to the book "Be Brave, Tah-Hy!" by Jack R. Williams.

 
The book tells the story of the Nez Perce War of 1877 through the eyes of Chief Joseph’s 12-year-old daughter. It features illustrations by the artist Jo Proferes. Jack R. Williams, the first superintendent of Nez Perce National Historical Park at Spalding. The Author served as the Superintendent of the Reservation from 1969-1975. He wrote this book in honor of the history of native Americans.

The book is produced with the help of many friends on the reservation. "Be Brave, Tah-Hy!" is beautifully illustrated by one of the most well known female artists in the United States - Jo Proferes. She achieved modest fame with 20 authentic, museum size oils of the Nez Perce War of 1877, which was the Nez Perce Bicentennial Exhibit in 1976 in the Idaho Statehouse.

The books is a story of the War of 1877 through the eyes of Chief Joseph's daughter Tah-Hy when she was a young girl, making it a great history book not only for middle school students but also for interested in native American stories adults.
