​Kimberly Riso has always dedicated herself to education. “I started school at the age of two at Summit Preparatory School in order to gain independence,” she says. “I excelled in my studies, always wanting to have a competitive edge over my classmates.” This is an attitude that she took forward throughout her scholastic career, resulting in her being eligible for high school graduation at the age of sixteen. She instead chose to begin her collegiate studies while still at high school, graduating at seventeen with a year of college under her belt. While she is a naturally-gifted student, she also works hard to maintain high grades and points to a number of key attributes that have helped her to succeed.

She is a very determined individual who is always keen to learn as much as she can so she can reach her goals. She hopes to be an optometrist when she has completed her studies and all of her work is focused towards this aim. Her determination is key when she encounters subjects that she finds difficult, as it allows her to keep pushing forward so she can learn what she needs to know to make her dreams become reality.

She also has excellent time-management, which allows her to schedule her personal study time effectively so she can work at a hospital and shadow a professional optometrist, in addition to completing her work. This skill is crucial to her success as a student and will also be transferrable to her working life when she begins her career. Optometrists, in particular, need to have excellent time-management skills in order to arrange appointments with clients and ensure everybody is seen at the proper times.

Kimberly Riso is also keen to participate in any activities that will help to further her education. She understands that there are many ways to learn new things that can benefit both her and those around her, which is why she supplements her formal education with extracurricular activities and volunteer work. This serves to make her a well-rounded individual who is able to apply what she has learned in a number of different circumstances.
