Normally a project manager can create a project but then only administrators can actually manage them and allocate and share tasks out. As the administrator role has far more reaching powers, many companies didn’t want to give those powers to everyone.

Now a project manager can actually see all the tasks in projects they are involved with, regardless of the user assignment. They can also filter by users, set tasks for the users and assign tasks to any users involved in that project.

Another changed that has been added is that if a task is assigned to one person, nobody else will see it. It used to be the case that all tasks were listed on everyone’s dashboard in the project resulting in a very cluttered view, but now all of that has been cleaned up.
