Coastal Security Services is a security firm that was started by Brendon Smith and Barbara Swann who are two business partners. The company was started in 2010 and ever since they have been providing security services to individuals, businesses and events. The company hires between twelve and twenty security employees at one go and the number increases as the security demand increases. The security employees are normally required when they need at an event or the season of the cruise ship. This is because demand for the business rises sevenfold.

Coastal Security Services provides its service in Dunedin and South Otago. They have a well-established base that answers any calls that a person could be having at whatever time of day. When a person calls, a member of the team answers and responds to any question he or she could be having. They don’t have a call centre where the individuals working there will not know anything about the security business.

All the members of staff are trained, vetted and licenced by the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Internal Affairs. Any person with whom they are protecting will feel confident that the companies security guards are well trained and has obtained a security licence and are either working toward or have already obtained a level two National Certificate. They are all well trained to meet the client’s needs whatever they could be. South Otago Security Services has partnered with Coastal Security Services for a roundup of all the security service that the clients might need.

They provide security services from large events, smaller vessel and cruise ship port security. They also are available for home security. The security services they provide are divided into three areas: residential properties, security solutions for events and businesses. In addition to that they provide crime scene guard security and patient safety delivery to medical centres.

Event security services involve making events such as cultural events; sports; small events and formal parties to be safe and no incident will occur when the company is in charge. The security service was in charge of New Year’s event in Octagon.

When it comes to residential security service, Coastal Security Services is involved in checking the client’s home - if the client is on holiday – mail clearing, and animal feeding. It installs and monitors alarm systems and security cameras. It provides guards who will patrol the house at night.

Business security service involves Internal and external checks on buildings and premises, install and monitor alarm systems, building surveillance and finally to have static guards on the premises.
