How to Use the Refrigeration Gauges

Shanghai Jun Ying Instruments is an industrial instrumentation manufacturer and OEM products supplier, who located in Shanghai, China.

In this text we will go on to explain how to use refrigeration pressure gauges, one of the key devices to know the pressure exerted by certain fluids. We refer to aggressive flows resulting from the expulsion of gases, liquids ... Those responsible for air conditioning systems, industrial refrigeration systems and others, must know how to read refrigeration pressure gauges , both for safety reasons and for reasons of optimization of resources. .

These devices are generally made up of copper and iron. Superficially they are covered by a red or blue coating.

Also called Freon pressure gauges, the color of the housing and other details will define its use. In this way, the blue ones are used for measuring the absorption or suction pressure of the compressors.

Its scale is read as follows: from 0, it measures atmospheric pressure, and from 0 downwards it will control the vacuum, that is, pressures below atmospheric pressure.

The red pressure gauge is ideal for preserving air conditioning systems as it will reveal when the pressure may be negative for the system. It is also used to check other particularities of the compressors.

The refrigeration pressure gauges also include hoses of different colors. The red hose connects the compressor discharge valve to the high pressure gauge.

The blue one links the compressor absorption valve to the low pressure gauge.

The yellow hose is versatile and is used to measure and carry out the precise controls for the whole device: refrigerant injection, pressurization, vacuum...

USING THE REFRIGERATION MANOMETER

This device must be used according to specific parameters. The use of the refrigeration pressure gauge must be done by people with knowledge and responsibility, given the incidents that can cause a bad reading or use.

It is important that the steps are carried out one by one, without haste and knowing how to respect the times and order of actions.

Otherwise, the operator could suffer burns or, alternatively, inefficiency due to losses of oil, refrigerant gas, etc. Therefore, in order to know how to use the refrigeration pressure gauge correctly, several questions must be addressed, among others, the graduation of the device.

When using the pressure gauge for the first time, it is common for it to lack the factory-applied graduation. In this case, the transparent closure will have to be removed and, very carefully and using a small flat screwdriver, move the screw under the numbering until the needle stops at 0.

This is the state in which the refrigeration pressure gauge has to be for its correct use.

It must be emphasized that both the removal of the translucent cover and its repositioning must be done with great care. In addition, we should not touch the needle or any other element beyond the screw.

Once it is graduated, the pressure gauge will be placed when the refrigeration system is on, since in this way we will obtain a lower pressure and it will be easier and safer to obtain accurate measurements.

When removing it, it is also recommended that the cooling device is turned on. Thus, there will be less pressure and a loss of refrigerant product will be prevented. In certain models, a sight glass is incorporated that will allow viewing the refrigerant flow.

MANOMETER MAINTENANCE

The maintenance of the refrigeration pressure gauge is also of great importance. It would be useless to read pressure gauges if the device is in poor condition, deteriorated or shows instability in the measuring needle.

We can mention the protective rubbers, which extend the useful life of the device. They absorb shocks and other aggressions, making the technology that integrates the pressure gauge not resent.

On the other hand, it is necessary from time to time to adjust the rear hardware.

In this way, we will prevent mismatch problems.

Likewise, it must be borne in mind that certain products, such as dehydrating liquids from refrigeration and air conditioning systems, can be harmful to the pressure gauge, veiling the transparent seal and therefore preventing vision and reading.

Knowing how to read a refrigeration pressure gauge is as important as keeping it in good condition. In this way, they can be used both in the home and in the industrial environment so that the air conditioning system for homes, for companies, refrigeration devices for industrial tasks ... perform at their maximum while spending the least and without operating instability.
