New Zealand may not end as winners always but they ever fail to win hearts of millions. The Under-19 World Cup match between New Zealand and West Indies once again proved the same on Wednesday.

Spirit of Cricket shown by Kiwis

The quarter-final saw Kirk McKenzie suffering from cramps on his leg and getting retired hurt on 99 in the 43rd over. But he was courageous enough to come back to face last 14 deliveries of the innings after West Indies had lost their ninth wicket. He was visibly in pain and could barely able to stand on field. He was dismissed on the very first ball he faced and began his tiring journey to the pavilion. The moment saw New Zealand players Jesse Tashkoff and Joey Field coming up and carrying him off the field.

The gesture was applauded by all, especially by the fans at Benoni's Willowmoore Park in South Africa. The cricketing fraternity could not stop either and the Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma joined to praise New Zealand players. Rohit Sharma wrote along with the video of the incident, “So good to see this #SpiritOfCricket at its best.”

New Zealand in the semi-final

New Zealand meanwhile, booked a spot in the semi-final, thanks to the brilliant performances of Kristian Clarke and Joey Field. Their unbeaten 86-run partnership for the 9th wickets helped the Black caps win the match in the finale over. The Black Caps relied on Kristian Clarke and Joey Field's unbeaten 86-run 9th-wicket partnership to cross the finish line in the final over. Clarke and Field both remained unbeaten on 46 and 38 respectively.

The duo was effective during bowling as well as Clarke took four wickets and Field picked up two. Eventually New Zealand chased down the target of 239 with two balls to spare. For West Indies McKenzie's 99 was their highest score and AshmeanNedd took three wickets.
