Many indigenous candidates will get the chance to become certified early childhood teachers thanks to the Job Training Institute. The two-year, fully financed programme will assist Victoria-based students in achieving their educational goals and overcoming financial obstacles so they may succeed professionally in the early childhood education (ECE) sector.

Enrolled early childhood educators end up creating play-based, child-centered curricula, assist children's learning and development by addressing each child's individual needs and interests, establish welcoming relationships with young learners, families, and communities, and implement safe, healthy, and comprehensive early learning environments.

To guarantee that there is an Indigenous perspective and that indigenous professors and field placement locations engage in the training, the new programme will continue to cooperate in 2023.

To that purpose, the programme will make use of a part-time learning model, taking place on weekends and in the evenings. Furthermore, the financing will provide students with a stipend that will pay for their tuition, textbooks, and support expenses, which may total up to around $10,000 over the course of two years of study. Students will complete classroom and online courses, as well as interactive childcare laboratories that will be provided at the Job Training Institute.

The Indigenous Completions Initiative of the Victorian government provides funding for the Early Childhood Education - Indigenous Stream programme.

This programme offers one-time government cash to promote the hiring and retention of a skilled workforce in childcare and the early years.

Those interested in the programme can apply right away. Students will graduate in December 2024 and be ready to enter the workforce once classes start in January 2023. According to industry norms, programme candidates would need to provide documentation of their immunizations and a police check.
