Global Markets: Shares in the United States were hovering in red zone, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index dipped by 78.32 points or 0.30% to 25,820.51, the S&P 500 index contracted by 5.58 points or 0.19% to 2,872.80 and the technology benchmark index NASDAQ Composite decreased by 21.22 points or 0.27% to 7,832.52 respectively.

Global News: Industry body UK Finance reported that banks approved 43,342 mortgages in July, up from 42,775 in March, recording the most mortgages since February 2017, while net mortgage lending reported the biggest increase since March 2016 by increasing by GBP 2.947 billion last month. On Tuesday, Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn held talks with opposition parties to prevent a potentially chaotic no-deal exit at the end of October.

European News: The Conference Board said on Tuesday that the index on consumer confidence slipped to 135.1 in August, indicating that expectations declined moderately, but remained strong overall. The figure was above the expectations of the market and showed consumers have remained confident and willing to spend. Expectations of a trade deal between the US and China rose as President Donald Trump said he believed China was sincere about wanting to reach a deal and claimed US trade counterparts had been contacted Chinese authorities and offered to return to the negotiating table.

London Stock Exchange (LSE):

Top Performers: RAVEN PROPERTY GROUP LIMITED (RAV), INTU PROPERTIES PLC (INTU) and PROVIDENT FINANCIAL PLC (PFG) are top performers of the day and up by 7.89%, 7.32%, and 7.29% respectively.

Worst Performers: CHESNARA PLC (CSN), TI FLUID SYSTEMS PLC (TIFS) and FERREXPO PLC (FXPO) are the top three laggards of the day and down by 6.07%, 5.94%, and 5.53% respectively.

Top Performing Sectors: Utilities (+0.86%), Telecommunications Services (+0.43%), and Consumer Cyclicals (+0.36%).
