A resident of Albert Lea, Troy Irvine is a successful sales professional. He suffered a major setback in his life when his 4-year old son, Max, was diagnosed with myoclonic astatic epilepsy and had hundreds of seizures a day. Despite being told by one of the epilepsy specialists that their son would become mentally incompetent from his seizures, he and his wife, Kristine, did not believe it and continued with their search for a treatment for their son.

Hoping to find an effective treatment for Max, Troy Irvine and Kristine Irvine brought their son to the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and consulted Dr. Elaine Wirrell, who specializes in child epilepsy. They took Max off all his epilepsy medications, and put him on a ketogenic diet. The results were outstanding as the little boy was back to his normal self within a few months and had no seizures.
