Ironing a t-shirt poker

Ironing a t-shirt poker is not very easy, especially if the shirt presents all sorts of decorations, made from another material than the shirt itself.

Ironing is an activity performed by all of us, whether we like it or not. It is no rocket science, still it requires us to know several things, meant to protect us against burns and help us iron our clothes the way we want them. So get familiar with your iron and read a few things about the most common materials, such as cotton, polyester, rayon, silk, satin, acrylic, and wool. Or simply ask your grandmother, because she knows all this.

Most t-shirts are made from cotton, which is good, because this material is easy to iron. The problem is that, if you turn the iron to a wrong direction, the material could get wrinkled and this is something that you certainly do not want to happen, because getting rid of the wrinkles formed like this is much harder than ironing a shirt that got wrinkled naturally, while being in the closet.

So the first rule in ironing a shirt is to read the instructions on how to use the iron and practicing first on some clothes that you do not wear that often. Do not start your ironing career by ironing your preferred t-shirt. When you feel comfortable with ironing, try some clothes that you actually wear. Still, do not move too rapidly to silk or satin, because these materials have some special ironing needs.

The second rule is to use an ironing table. However, you can obtain great results, even if you do not use a table like this, but simply a thick blanket covered by a sheet. Before ironing boards have appeared, people used this method and their clothes were all nice and tidy, without wrinkles whatsoever. When ironing, make sure not to have children or pets around you, because they could get burned by mistake.

The next rule in ironing a t-shirt poker is to spray a jet of water to iron the shirt better. Do not worry about the mix between water and the electric current because no problem will ever occur, if the iron is high quality. Plus, nowadays, finding an iron that does not run on steam or spray is pretty difficult, so take what you can get and learn to deal with that. And if you are too afraid to use water inside an iron, use the iron as it is, without the water.

Speaking of fears when ironing a t-shirt poker, we need to say that wearing jewerly presents a much higher risk than filling the water recipient with water. If you wear a poker bracelet, for example, that bracelet could get intertwined with the iron’s cable and cause you some problems, that could even lead to burns, if you are not careful.

At the same time, a poker bracelet or any other type of bracelet could get attached to a tiny part of the textile material you are trying to iron, and it could disturb its arrangement on the table, forcing you to arrange it one more time. This takes time, not to mention that a piece of jewelry that breaks away a small thread from a certain garment ruins the garment, unless you make sure to re-sew the material in that problematic area.

So just like a doctor who prepares for a surgery, or a chef that wants to make a dish, you too should take off your jewelry, especially bracelets, before ironing, because they could create some issues. And it is always better to prevent, than to cure. Follow these simple rules in ironing, and you will end up being a pro soon.
