14th February 2012 - When you bought your set of Leather Furniture you were obviously very satisfied with the great look it gave to your house. You might have paid a bombshell and it was definitely worth it. It is very important that you take care of your leather for them to look new for years to come.
Here are some things you can follow in order for you to do so. Because leather is a natural material it can look great but can also be the very subject of an object that demands extra care. You do not have to panic; leather usually need very little care for normal usage. Hence following the following steps should be more than enough.
We should always avoid keeping our newspaper on the leather couch or any other such furniture because the ink on newspapers and magazines leach in and discolour the leather. Try and avoid sharp objects around such furniture. Small cuts in leather can be fixed but big ones may look awkward. Hence, even clawed pet animals should be kept away from such furniture. Even household items such as pens, bleach or just anything that is acidic should be avoided being kept near such furniture.
You should dust your furniture every now and then with a soft cloth or the vacuum cleaner that is attached to a soft brush. You should not forget hard to reach places such as the arms and cushions of it. You should not forget to fluff and loosen the cushions occasionally to prevent comfort mark or at least minimize them.
You should take care of all spills as fast as you can. Spills are unavoidable hence being prepared for it isn’t a bad idea. If you do not take care of them on your leather, they will blot and you do not want that. All you usually need is a wet cloth with normal water. Although if the spill contains oil or grease, do not use a damp cloth, in fact use a dry one because leather will absorb all the grease over time.
The only other main tip someone can give you about taking care of leather furniture is that you should use leather conditioner on them every year at least once or twice.
