The inimitable elegance of Designer Jewellery

In the recent areas Designer Jewellery has been on the extremes in terms of the cost to which their designers attach to them.

6th August 2012 - In the entire period of the evolution of jewellery and its various styles,Designer Jewellery occupies a very significant position in the whole process.
Apart from the usual styles that are forged on precious metals like gold and platinum, in order to create expensive pieces of jewellery, designers also come forth with contemporary styles, which are starkly different from the regular moulds that one often sees in case of expensive jewellery.
Jewellery designers are often trained in the art of metals mithing, and are fully acquainted with the melting points, freezing points of precious and semi-precious metals, along with other facts that makers of jewellery need to know in order to work out the feasibility of implementing a certain design into the body of a metal, as per the requirements of the client.
Most of these jewellery designers have their individual brands, from which they interact with and cater to prospective buyers. These days, people want to personalise their jewellery pieces and hence, turn to experienced designers, who receive the rough sketches of the designs that the clients have in mind, flesh out these sketches with minute, and intricate details, and finally find out if those designs can be wrought in the metal or material of the customer’s choice, depending on the physical and chemical properties of that metal.
These designers are also quite adept at gemology, and are familiar with the characteristic features of precious and semi-precious gems. The history of jewellery design is quite old, and the most notable pioneers were members of the Castellani family in 18th century Italy. These days, jewellery designers come up with captivating designs to be engraved in sterling silver, or platinum or even rhinestones.
This kind of jewellery acts as a mediating link between costume jewellery and the more expensive gold jewellery, in turn providing an alternative, which is not only of a higher quality than most cosmetic jewellery, but also less expensive than other more traditional forms of jewellery. The modern day designers often form a tie-up with popular fashion houses and brands, thereby creating exclusive lines of jewellery to accessorise their collections on and off the ramps.
