18th October 2011 - ‘United we stand, divided we fall’, this famous phrase as we all know, was the moral of a kinder garden story. It encouraged developing the feeling of togetherness and team work in us, from childhood itself.
Now, as it has turned out to be, every organization, worldwide, has realized it. Working together, attributing one another, complimenting others, all in all, the whole act of team work was born.
Team Building, as it is called, is now a significant part of each and every office. It constitutes of main expenditure that occurs in the human resources department.
And why not, it is a scientific fact. Output is certainly increased, working environment definitely is improved, and moreover the relationships between employees is strengthened. Such good exercises in the organization leads to institutions’ growth.
Team building includes various exercises and activities, mostly summing up to fun. Individual, pairs, teams, groups, mental, physical, the exercises are designed so as to enrich in such a manner so as to increase the bonding, the trust factor, among the employees. A consultant is appointed first of all for such an exercise.
He would be the one who decides all the activities, depending on the nature of the people involved. Though it may seem as fun while being involved, it gives much better analysis to the consultant, who then can pick up further exercises, one after another and finally get the dent removed.
For example, for someone who has confidence issues, he would be given much of the public speaking assignments during the activities and in the course of time, that would help the individual to evolve and develop the confidence factor inside. It almost the back to school way of doing things, where the teacher would entrust us with doing things, cause she knows what we can’t do and she wants to make us able.
And it is an approved fact. Since the time team building has been introduced as a corporate practice, companies have acquired better working environment, and an increasing profit graph with Team Building. It has more or less become an industry in itself. Work, fun, entertainment, and better prospects, cannot get any better than this!
