24th May 2012 - Leather furniture unlike the misconception of many can last you for a long time provided you take good care of it. Cleaning furniture made in leather is quite different and if you have the right knowledge, you can take good care of it. It is much easier than cleaning furniture made in other material and takes comparatively less time too. No professional cleaners would be required if you take apt care of the furniture. Thus, your furniture would present a new look even after many years of usage.
You can keep your furniture in almost new look without investing any large sum on cleaning chemicals. Although there are many ways of cleaning but cleaning with mild soap solution is peradventure the easiest method. You can take warm moist cloth and use a mild soap solution to clean the dirty areas. Remember, not to be very harsh while cleaning or the leather may get affected. Gentle cleaning is required for best result without exerting much thrust on the dirty areas.
Circular motion is preferable while cleaning as it tends to clean easily without causing even slightest harm to the leather. This method will also help you get rid of most stains on your furniture provided you do not leave the stains on the furniture for long period of time. For stains caused by ink, gum eraser works best.
The sooner you try to wipe them off, the better the result will be. If the stains are left on for long period, it may get too stubborn and may not get removed easily. Besides mild cleaning solutions, you can also use wax for cleaning as well as conditioning the material. You can permanently stain your leather upholstery by keeping it in constant contact with non color quick clothing.
Leather can be made more supple and softer by advanced finishing and tanning processes and you can maintain the quality of your leather furniture throughout its life. Some areas of your sofas which are more frequently used are more prone to developing creases and wrinkles such as the arms and cushions. This is natural and must not be a matter of concern.
