Avoid brushing or combing curls when the hair is dry. This will only add to the frizz and cause the hair to puff up. Using a wide toothed comb is the best way to keep the knots away. Another solution is to use a detangling spray. Never use a hair brush which is for normal hair, it will only cause more pain.
As far as possible avoid drying Natural Black hair using a towel. By rubbing the towel against the hair, friction is produced that causes frizz. Whenever in hurry, use a diffuser which comes as an attachment with the blow drier to dry hair. Never use a hair drier by itself, it will only make you look as if you just survived an electric shock.
