March 1, 2016 (www.abortionpillrx.com): The Supreme Court position against Texas law, which has reduced dramatically number of pregnancy termination clinics in the state, has been a hot topic for the lawmakers for the century. It has become election-year’s biggest case, and debated on this Wednesday before court but were altered due to death of honorable Justice Antonin Scalia, who was a strong abortion opponent amidst the nine justices. However, the Texas law is now active across south and other areas, part of staunch restrictions on pregnancy ending access over past five years.

Restrictions on Abortion for Women in the States

States mainly run by Republicans did try to limit pregnancy-ending access, performance, restriction over abortion pills like mifepristone and misoprostol that are fine replacement of surgical fetus removal, law that required clinics to increase ambulatory standards, and the professionals involved doing the procedure. A Texas law activated in 2013 needs doctors who performing terminations of pregnancy to possess admitting privileges at the nearby hospitals. The regulation also prohibits clinics providing pregnancy ending unless they keep the standards of necessary outpatient services at surgical centers.

However, the high court has blocked these measures partially. If allowed to be reinforced completely, then all but majority 10 clinics of Texas will close. There will be no abortion providers in rural areas of the states or in regions of west San Antonio. Only clinic at Rio Grande Valley will remain open, but on limited basis. There were 40 clinics roughly in the state, before the law was passed, and now half of these have closed down. The case offers different viewpoints of how to safeguard a woman’s health. The hospitals contend that medical abortions are safer than surgical process, being less stringent and low cost.

Alabama in Support of Texan Law

Amy Hagstrom Miller, chief executive of Whole Woman’s Health (operates clinics at Texas and other states) opines that the law is bars too many women, who may be in need. The defenders of the Texan law argue that the state has sole discretion of making pregnancy-ending procedures safer, and Alabama is one of the states that back this regulation against Supreme Court, which applies the rights to health regulations of clinics only in support of the patients.

When the Governor Goes Pro-Life

Governor and Republican Robert Bentley of Alabama says that he is pro-life and will like to restrict the amount of pregnancy endings while keeping in mind the health and safety of women. Texas Solicitor General Scott Keller, defending the law in Supreme Court is of the opinion that Texan law was in step to Philadelphia abortion high profile case involving the doctor Kermit Gosnell who is now serving a life sentence for killing three babies that were born alive. He was also found culprit for administering overdose to a patient, which led to the women’s death.

Expectations of Pro-Choice Activists

The fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in the New Orleans accepted largely the state’s argument. The justices’ in June 2015 order for putting holding the appellate ruling suggests that a majority cut back on such regulations are expected. The abortion-rights groups and clinics are hoping a ruling that may bolster challenges for other restrictions on pregnancy terminations. To prevail, the advocated require vote of Justice Anthony Kennedy along with certain votes of four other liberal justices, similar to before Scalia’s death.
